My AI/Corpus Based Teaching Material Assignment and How did it go?

Hey guys!!! The moment we all have been waiting for has finally come... We had an assignment. I'm glad to be writing about an assignment again on here.

This assignment involved creating an AI-enhanced corpus-based teaching material, along with a lesson plan for it, using the ASSURE model. We had to choose a teaching unit from an actual book studied in high schools in Turkey. We chose the grammar topic, "there is/there are". Creating this material, we had to do it according to what Ma et al. (2021) proposed: Test student knowledge, hands-on corpus searches by students, inductive discovery by students, and output exercise. Here is the lesson plan we prepared.

My teammates, Aliye, İlke, Furkan, and I got together and did a division of labor. Aliye and I chose to create the teaching material. We used a colorful background and incorporated cute images like cats😸. We included all 4 of what Ma et al. proposed. Here are the worksheets:

Anyways.. I very much enjoyed this assignment because we got to create worksheets for our hypothetical students. I love my hypothetical students. It made me really nervous, in a good way, and excited to graduate and teach and prepare worksheets/teaching materials in real life for my real students. I would recommend assignments like these any day, any time. It was not as hard as it looked at first. Once we got the hang of it, we overcame it like true champions, I think.

Thanks for reading my blog and hearing my story out. ALL THE BEST WISHES AND THOUGHTS FOR YOU.

p.s. Here are cute emojis for you, if you read all the way here.
