LET'S EXPLORE PARIS
Hello, everyone! How have you been this past week? I am very stressed and very busy with schoolwork nowadays. I have 4 presentations and 2 assignments due this week. 1 of these assignments being the reason I am writing this blog post.
So! As I mentioned, this week's Current Issues in Teaching assignment is creating an augmented/virtual reality integrated teaching material and then also preparing an ASSURE model lesson plan. I think my group and I handled this task very well. At first, I was like "Ugh! An assignment... Again?" but when we started, I saw that creating this material was actually very fun!
I have talked so much about my thoughts and feelings, but what is augmented/virtual reality integrated teaching material? Let me explain briefly, Augmented Reality (AR) and Virtual Reality (VR) are technologies that allow learners to interact with digital content in immersive ways. While AR overlays digital elements such as images, videos, or 3D objects onto the real world, VR places learners into a completely virtual environment where they can explore and interact as if they were physically present. In education, these technologies are used to make learning more engaging, interactive, and student-centered.
For our assignment, we aimed to design a teaching material that would meaningfully integrate AR/VR rather than using it just for the sake of using it. While preparing our lesson plan based on the ASSURE model, we carefully considered learners’ needs, learning objectives, and how AR/VR could support active participation. Through this process, I realized that technology, when used purposefully, can truly enhance the learning experience. Click here for the ASSURE model lesson plan, and here for the materials we prepared.
Overall, this assignment helped me change my perspective on technology in education. What initially felt overwhelming turned into an enjoyable and creative experience.
