My Interview with the Devil: A Guide to Chanel Oberlin

 

    Hey guys! I am both sad and excited to talk about my final assignment. But first, I want to thank you and say that I appreciate everyone who reads my posts. Thanks for joining me in this journey. Hope to see you all very soon (probably next semester) HAPPY PRIDE 💗

    This last assignment was engaging with Magic Schoo's AI tool which turned out to be one of the most fun experiences I have had this term (though the digital storytelling assignment can never be topped). I completed a series of tasks to experience AI from a language learner's perspective. I chose option A which meant that I would interview someone of my choosing, write a report, get that report checked by AI, and then correct the necessary parts. Of course, I chose Chanel Oberlin from Scream Queens. You can read it all here if you are brave enough. 

    I chose Chanel because... Because who would not, honestly? She is the top of the Kappa Kappa Tau sorority, a fashion icon, and an amazingly horrifying human being overall. I asked her questions about her friendships, or frenmyship as she describes, her feelings, and dreams and most importantly the things that are going around on campus. Her answers were very much satisfactory and gossipy. Believe me, I enjoyed every second of it. It was nice to talk about the things on the show with someone who has all the insights. 

    I had a lot of fun interviewing Chanel Oberlin. Since she is a fictional character, there is no way for someone to actually interview her which I think is the whole point of this assignment. We get to experience this thanks to AI. However, I would recommend you use it carefully, considering it can be dangerous for children if not used properly or without parental guidance. There needs to be boundaries and guidance to avoid misinformation or overreliance while using AI tools. 

   In the future, I would also use some tools of AI for tasks like this. However, I think learners must create their work, assignments, or writings on their own creatively. Since it is impossible to interview fictional characters or historical figures, this assignment is a beautiful exception.
