Our Journey Writing a Film Review
Hey guys! I have very exciting news. We had another interesting task to complete. It was creating a collaborative writing experience and making a critique about a movie pretending we were a school paper. My friend and I knew which movie we were going to do from the start: Isle of Dogs. So, we called ourselves the Isle of Film Critics. Isle of Dogs is an animated science-fiction comedy-drama by Wes Anderson filled with themes of loyalty, revolution, and propaganda. Our job was to analyze the movie, critique it, and present our thoughts in an engaging review format.
I paired up with my friend, Aliye who is always there for me. You can go to her blog and read her point of view too. We used Google Docs as our main tool for collaboration. It allowed us to work in real-time, make suggestions, leave comments, and track each other’s changes. Honestly, it made the writing process smoother and more interactive. We didn’t just combine ideas but we also shaped and refined them together.
Using Google Docs for collaborative writing was a positive experience overall. It encouraged equal participation, helped us organize our thoughts, and made reviewing much easier than sending drafts back and forth and waiting for the other person to be free at the same time as me.
