It Happened Again: My Podcast Assignment

    

 Hey everyone!!!! 

    Today, I'm writing here to celebrate and talk about my first podcast experience. As soon as our instructor told us about the assignment, Aliye and I knew we would do this as a pair and create a story together. You can reach Aliye's blog here. 

    We named our podcast "The Freak Show" and the name of our first episode is "Gerald the Freak" We made a highly dramatic and slightly absurd dialogue about Geral the Freak. He is a clown haunted by his past, his father who abandoned him, and the audience's expectations. With fun sound effects and an eerie storyline (of which I am very proud), we tried to blur the lines between what is real and what is not. 

    The process was very exciting and unexpectedly easy. Coming up with this kind of story did not take as much time as we thought, and the actual recording and listening to our podcast were the best parts. We had so much fun. I did not realize recording a podcast and uploading it was this simple. We used PodOMatic. The time we had was creative, chaotic, and one of a kind. 

    I would definitely give a similar task to my future students. Creating a podcast with a friend improves collaboration skills, creative thinking, pronunciation, and fluency all while making language learning enjoyable. It also lets learners express themselves in imaginative ways.
